Fast Food Calories

Beware!

Fast food is highly processed and is prepared in an industrial fashion. They have standard ingredients and methodical and standardized cooking and production methods. It is generally served in cartons or bags or in a plastic wrapping.

The cooking method is responsible for the fast food's unhealthiness. Fast food is commonly deep fried, and thus contains
more fat and calories. The cooking oil used to fry the food contains Trans fats damaging to the heart. When served with starchy vegetables such as potatoes and sugary soft drink beverages, fast food meals contain a considerable glycemic load. Additionally, fast food also contains unwanted chemical additives hidden and lack proper labeling.

Criticisms

Fast food is popular and commercially successful in most modern societies. But it is often criticized for having many shortcomings. The major reason of concern being is the calories.
This is what makes it unhealthy and can even be dangerous to the human body and also leads to obesity.

Fast food has very high caloric density. This means that by the time a person feels full after eating, he has already overeaten. It is like eating a bowl of nuts. There is a lot of energy in those nuts but our appetite stays active until the stomach is physically full. But by the time the stomach is physically full the person has already overeaten regardless of the calories consumed and these calories amount to a big amount.

Changes

Many changes have in executed and been implemented in the fast food industry to reduce the calorie count keeping in mind the adverse effects it has on its consumers. A fast food meal has more then double calories of a meal that is home cooked. Some of the fast food chains have incorporated items like salads and fresh juices for the calorie conscious.

So keep a track of those calories and lead a healthy life!!!
