Liquor is an alternative name for alcohol. Alcohol is basically is the product of the fermentation of starches and sugars. It is a colorless, volatile, flammable liquid. It has been often seen that the body can make calories itself but then the liquor is all that your body cannot make on its own and neither something that the body need desperately.
It has been seen that the alcohol is not required by the
body in that content it is there. So therefore one needs to keep the calories balanced, which is possible only when it is not consumed much. The liquor calories need to maintained in the avoid the diseases related to kidney, liver lungs and others. Liquor or Alcohol is a central nervous system depressant and acts as a mild anesthetic and tranquilizer. It can be toxic if taken in large quantities. It is a "macronutrient" that provides energy. Energy is measured in calories, and liquor has about 7 calories per gram. The calories obtained from alcohol are considered to be "empty" because alcohol contains zero health benefits such as vitamins and minerals. Going by the specifications the amount in a 1-ounce shot (2 tablespoons) of liquor contains approximately 80 to 90 calories. The additional calories lie in carbonated beverages or fruit juices since they are generally mixed with liquor in a cocktail. The calorie intake depends on the alcohol or liquor content of various beverages: "Proof" is the technical to term to indicate the alcohol content of distilled liquors. It is the percentage of alcohol multiplied by two. For example: 100-proof alcohol = 50% alcohol 200-proof alcohol = 100% alcohol Beverages containing alcohol are converted into fat and are high in calories. People with diabetes should drink alcoholic beverages sparingly.
